Tan, Anyone?

Today I was out walking in a landscape that is still primarily brown and grey, and upon my return home I received a notice from Anais Gaea about her new instant tan tattoos. These are a more inexpensive option for anyone who wants to sport a little tan but may not have the L’s for a darker skin purchase. As you can see the tan layer lies cleanly over the skin and does not blur the texture or features. There is a “darkest” tan option for anyone out there who wants to go ultra deep tanning!

It is always a good time for a little bit of shopping, but really I just wanted to photograph this gorgeous bag from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. You can never have enough bags for accessorising, in my opinion—or, as my husband claims, for putting more crap in. Alas, we are both right!

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: White

White is the color I love most. Or absence of color, as the case may be. Light, clean, and breezy are three adjectives that spring to mind. The only difficulty this week was in choosing which of all my white items to wear! In the end I went with a wrap shirt from the Sascha Frangilli “Kissed” set (60L this weekend at Sascha’s!)  and my favorite capris of all time, from G. Feild. Perfect for wading, treasure hunting, or just thinking (I do far too much of the latter and not nearly as much of the former as I should).

Someday My Prince Will Come

A friend of mine made a replica of Harlech Castle in Wales, and I decided to use it for my photo shoot today. I have always been fascinated with British history in particular. Sometimes I can be guilty of romanticizing past eras, mostly because I forget that if I actually HAD lived in that time, I certainly would not have been part of the well-dressed nobility! Also I am sure my accuracy in historical fashion is way off, but I couldn’t say no to this lovely gown by Luna Barak at Moonstruck. Perfect for waiting for Prince Charming to arrive.

 

Then again, who wants to wait around for the prince to show up?!?!

So can you tell that I am urging springtime to hurry up already with my recent posts? This yellow cardigan from Doppelganger definitely brought me to the sun since the sun is certainly not deigning to come to me! I only recently discovered this store and am impressed with the simple but elegant quality that co-owners Syler Morgwain and Frankie Casenove put into their work. I will definitely be a repeat visitor!

Today I was going through all my FFL purchases trying to decide what to blog about and this dress by Zaara Kohime caught my attention. This is actually the first dress I purchased at FFL as a friend was showing me around the beautifully crafted Mapplethorpe sim. Mahari comes in six colors, three in spring colors and three in dark colors. Since we are celebrating the arrival of spring (although it is still in the 30’s where I live so I use “spring” very liberally), I will show you those three today! Zaara’s work is always so beautifully done—I love the folds and pleats on the skirt and the beautifully raised embroidery on the bodice.

Hopefully the real flowers and sunshine will not be far behind!

Fashion For Life Day 6

Ok, really, I have enough stuff for thirty days of FFL! And I can really feel confident that even if I have overspent in L's this month, it has all been to benefit a great organization like the American Cancer Society. Three days left, so get over there while you can!

Today I was feeling a bit more casual and took the opportunity to relax a bit, and there are some great casualwear options on the three sims I visited, Arbus, Mapplethorpe, and Ansel Adams. 52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Sky Blue

Sky blue is a favorite color of mine and I have a whole lot of it in my wardrobe! However, this dress and jewelry ensemble from Rebel Hope has been in my inventory for probably a year and I have never given it the attention it deserves. I love everything about it, the jewels and pleating on the bodice, the floaty sheer skirt prims, the delicate white trim…it makes me feel like a spring day and about nineteen years old.

Fashion For Life: Day 4

Yesterday I really did mean to branch out but I somehow found myself stuck in the Bourke White sim for most the the time I was online yesterday. Great stuff. Today I am going out on a limb and blogging lingerie. Now, there is a whole lot of underwear in SL. And a lot of it looks better on SL bodies than it would on the RL versions thereof. I fully admit to being a much more conservative dressing av than most, and there are a couple of reasons why:

1. I like fabrics. Not that av skin is not nice to look at, but my heart gets all aflutter when looking at fabric texture, shape, and draping. Lingerie usually doesn’t have enough fabric to make me get fluttery.

2. I like subtlety. Vintage underwear has such charm for me, with it’s laces and ruffles and bows and the time it takes to put on and take off…it radiates femininity and understated sexiness. Also there is nothing like that soft, worn fabric against your skin. Now, I am certainly not opposed to letting it all hang out, and there is definitely a time and place for it, but in my opinion the anticipation and imagination about our bodies is also an important part of understanding ourselves and connecting with others.

That being said, you can probably imagine my cry of delight when I saw this ensemble by NovaStar Shilova:


Aside from fitting perfectly the first time I put them on, the sheen and texture quality are astounding and the prim attachments work flawlessly with the several different outfit options.


It gives a whole new meaning to laying around in your underwear! As I said before, there is a lot more than just underwear included with this outfit, so if you want to bare a little less you can.
I must also mention the Willow skin from Kira Paderborn. I actually got this one from the Gacha Café on the Bourke White sim and became an instant fan.
Now to see if I can make it to a different sim today!

One of my favorite finds of this event has been this dress by Khea Karas at MALT. It’s pretty obvious I have been on a bit of a black and white kick these last few days—maybe something in my subconscious is staying in the black and white sims that I have been doing so much shopping in! I love the fit and flow of this dress and the red belt accessory is just perfection.

And I just can’t resist the opportunity to showcase the new Fashism eyes once more! These are one of the Fashion For Life items in the store, and I can’t get enough of them.

I love the combination Sachi used here, both sexy and professional looking. The red pumps from Osakki are the perfect complement.

Finally, Ikon Innovia has released these new eyes that are simply spectacular.

And, just in case you can’t see their full glory through the glasses..

Eyes are one thing that totally impress me in SL, and it’s not every day you come across someone who can make them look so amazing.

Fashion For Life Day 1

Ohhhhhhh no. This is going to be bad. A friend sent me a tp for one of the nine Fashion For Life sims and I have had a hard time going anywhere else for the last two days. But at least I will have plenty to blog about in the next few days weeks, even if I am going through my monthly ration of Ls at three times my normal rate.

Today I am wearing a sweater and skirt set from Shiki. There is just something about Shinichi Mathy’s work that screams elegance. Now I admit to the undeniable urge to purchase everything in sight at FFL, but it happened ten times more forcefully in Shiki’s. See you soon, my friends, and get over to FFL as quickly as you can.

Trying to get the subtleties between all these earth tones has not been as easy as you might think. Is this REALLY umber? Or is it more sepia, or bronze, or taupe….well, you can see my difficulty. I did go shopping and found some items that were listed as umber and I had high hopes, but everything I ended up in today was already in my inventory. Sigh.
