I honestly think there is no limit to how enamored I am of Janie Marlowe’s work. I think JANE makes up about a third of my truly out-of-control inventory. But seriously, I could not pass up this adorable new dress. And the new Laurel Cottage kitchen from Winter Thorn is the perfect backdrop—I would have worn an apron but I didn’t want to cover up that precious owl! Okay, moving on now, cute quota for the day is filled!

Giving Us The Eye

Ikon Innovia at Fashism has given us two new gorgeous colors in two days. I guess that means I’ve not been the only one pestering him…little did he know that these came out just as I was trying to decide what color eyes to wear, so my karma must be good today!

I have been wanting to wear this adorable skirt by Elie Spot at Mon Tissu for a long time, but just haven’t been able to get myself into the mood for yellow. And admittedly, that mood is still eluding me, but the skirt shouldn’t have to pay for that, right? Especially a skirt as beautifully made as this one!

Release-O-Rama

This week was a whirlwind of great new releases! Even though we are nowhere near October 31st, this Dia de los Muertos top from Acid & Mala was the perfect shirt to pull on for a relaxed Sunday. And it pairs so well with these great Fifty Linden Friday jeans from Whippet & Buck.

Also making big waves all over the grid are the new Flip-flops from Onyx Leshelle at Maitreya. Flip flops that really work in SL are hard to find, and these are of the same excellent quality of Onyx’s previous designs. I had a moment of sticker shock, but then most of us probably know that you get what you pay for in SL, and there is simply no downside to these. I might not wear anything else all summer.

Also out from Beauty Code are these gorgeous earrings in silver and gold. The sparkle on these earrings is subtle and natural and won’t distract the person you are talking to with flashing bling!!! And finally, it’s always a great day when Ikon Innovia has a new release, and he continues to delight with his dreamy new Carribean Blue.

Into The Woods-First Midnight

Today’s post is dedicated to those of you who think your jobs are tedious and boring. I am here to show you how bad things can actually get. Last week I went with my husband to Ohio where we and about a thousand other nerdy language teachers convened to grade the Advanced Placement Spanish Exam given to high school students all over the country. For those of you who are unaware, it is an exam that earns high school students university credits.

We are always put in the speaking section, so along with about 700 other people we listen to student recordings all day, every day. 8am to 5pm. ALL. DAY. FOR. TEN. DAYS.

Now, just so you know, it wasn’t ALL just sitting there. Oh no, there was some variety:

Sometimes we stood while we graded.

So, you know, just keep that in mind next time things get a little dull and remind yourself that it could be worse. I am sure when Syndel Daviau at Secrets released this group gift Dee-jay hair she had no idea it would be used so ignominiously!

The nice thing about the dullness of the job is that your clothes don’t get messed up too much, (no chalk dust!) so you can wear your most delicate and breakable jewelry! I absolutely adore this Noir ensemble from Jake Kearny.

In then end we survived, all exams were graded, and now school vacation can officially begin!

Settling Down

It’s been a crazy semester but finally things are starting to slow down. And that is a good thing. Today I am wearing a couple of new offerings, one a group gift from Le Poppycock that embodies my festive mood and a new top from District.

 

There is so much to choose from at the Accessories Fair and it is responsible for my continual angst about not being able to buy everything in sight! #1: It’s always nice when you have a friend that will play dress up with you, and two avs can wear twice the accessories! This sonnet was always very dear to me because I imagine the lady Shakespeare describes as being a lot like many average women out there—not the most beautiful or amazing looking woman in the world (or even in the neighborhood!). However, his love for her makes her beautiful to him regardless of how the outward body appears. Nonsense? Perhaps, but comforting nonsense, in any case. And there are those for whom it also happens to be true, the lucky ducks!


Lano Ling released the second generation of his classic eyes recently and they are beauties! One thing I love about Lano’s style is the color blending. Look closely and check out the variegated colors within the eye. Another new release is my adorable smocked top from Acid & Maia—so perfect for these lengthening days in the northern hemisphere!

You Can’t Handle the Truth

Does anyone on the grid have as many people waiting to pounce on new releases as Truth Hawks? If there were recordings made of all the squeals over his hair designs, I am sure it would make a very entertaining (and long) movie. This week is no exception, with two new releases, Kalia and Leilani. Today I am wearing Kalia and the most important thing to share is that I did zero prim adjusting once I put it on. Zero. I think I’m in serious love.  When the notice came out for the new Patricia dress from Kunglers, I teleported straight to the store, and about two hundred other girls had the same idea!  As usual, this dress is beautifully constructed with gorgeous textures and the prim skirt falls perfectly and most of the time you can’t even tell you are wearing a prim skirt. So much fabulousness, I just can’t handle it!

Coming Up For Air

I am in the middle of grading final exams and finally had to surface for air. Upon logging in I was delighted to find this new hairstyle from Cameron Vasiliov. I love updos and this one is great with it’s off-center beehive! It was the perfect style to wear with this gorgeous gown from Phoenix Rising, which, I just have to say it again, was only 25L!!!!





Also from Phoenix Rising are these beautiful Spring Blossom earrings—so precious! I don’t know how long the 25L sale will last, so get over there while you still can! And don’t forget to look for the great 1L items at the front of the store!

My Ride

So many designers to mention today—first of all thanks to Chic Aeon for her tips on the ??? hunt, I have been looking for a bike for some time but didn’t really have any specifications-this one from GS Creations fit the bill nicely. I enjoyed walking around the GS store--if bikes and guns are your thing, then GS is the place for you! My hair (hat included) is a new release from Me. I have been waiting for a chance to wear Tiffy Vella’s new Deco Knot jewelry and belt set since it came out, and this is not the outfit I would have planned for it, but it works beautifully and adds class to my biker clothes. Finally, Nevery Lorakeet’s Boho boots give me biker cred while still giving me style and a good size heel.
