52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Amaranth

This week the Boston Symphony is presenting Porgy and Bess. This is one of the greatest American musical works and the cast is brilliant. Laquita Mitchell plays Bess, a drug-addicted woman who latches on to men for protection and money. Set in 1920’s Charleston, she was likely living out one of the only options available to a single woman at that time, drug addicted or not. So our Bess would have been dressed for Catfish row, but Laquita…now, she needs a concert gown to make sure all eyes follow her on stage at Symphony Hall. And once she opens that mouth and starts singing, you won’t be able to look anywhere else.

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Hunter Green

Honestly the first thing I thought of when I saw this color was the beautiful Jennifer Connelly in her super sexy night-club scene from the film Dark City. Her dress in the film is perhaps not such a deep green, but that’s the impression I got. My hairstyle from Wasabi Pills might have been inspired by her gorgeous do!

Time Out

Today’s photo is about appreciating the small moments in life--enjoying a sunny break in the middle of a long workday, the company of a good friend, the fact that there’s work to be done and that you have the strength to do it. I chose a high-quality shirt and jeans from Mon Tissu to keep me from getting banged and scratched throughout the workday. My trusty pal Mabel keeps me company and discourages the sheep from running in front of the tractor, and expects only half my apple and a scratch on the head in return!

New Orleans

I went to New Orleans once. It was a nice visit, great street musicians, and lots of energy. What it wasn’t was quiet and romantic. And yet that’s how Barnesworth Anubis’ New Orleans studio balcony felt like, set above the street and so a little removed from the hustle and bustle of below. September Mornings Still Can Make Me Feel That Way

At least this one does, a breezy, beautiful day that signals that fall is on the way but that summer has not completely given in yet.

Today I am wearing the lovely new mesh hands from Korundi. These move with your wrist so they look more natural than prim hands. The only bug I found and discussed with Shansa, the creator, was that when your graphics are on low the skin texture can look a little bit off. So keep your graphics at medium, these beauties are worth it!

My tri-color top and necklace are from this round of Xyroom. And Pucci Weaver’s are my favorite mesh jeans in SL to date. I keep having to buy them in all the different colors!

Summer’s End

It was sixty-five beautiful degrees this morning when I went in to school. It set the tone for a blissfully happy day. Lately I have been spending some time wandering around the beautiful Finlandia sim. This is rural farm beauty at it’s best and makes me wish I could visit in RL. It’s probably just cool enough for a sweater, like this great off-the-shoulder one from Useful Things.

It’s so fun to wear the new Kaleido eyes from Ikon Innovia—they look fairly normal from average distance, but it’s fun to see how much you have to zoom in to pick out the different shapes in the eyes.

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Royal Blue

The only thing I could think of when I saw this color was Kate Middleton…..but let’s face it, who among us could really pull that look off!?!? Plus I have no charming Prince William to back me up.
So Ikon Innovia saved my post this week by releasing the gorgeous Kaleido eyes just in the nick of time for the challenge. And thank the good Lord for it! The bright colors and geometric shapes really make these beauties pop. Go. See. Buy. Swoon.
